What happens when Christian language is used to disguise fear, pride, resentment, and tribal loyalty? In this commentary, Leighton Grey examines how words such as “mission,” “justice,” “heritage,” “repentance,” and “oppression” can sound biblical while being used to advance deeply unbiblical ideas. Whether rooted in ethnic preservation, historical grievance, national pride, or culture-war identity, the danger is the same: Scripture becomes a decoration for beliefs shaped by something other than Christ. The greatest threats to the Church do not always arrive openly opposing Christianity. Sometimes they come from within, clothed in familiar language and offering believers exactly what they want to hear. Authentic Christianity confronts our own sin. Counterfeit Christianity flatters us, divides us into tribes, and rebrands our sinful desires as righteousness. The question every Christian must ask is simple: Is Scripture shaping what we believe, or are we using Scripture to defend what we already want to believe?

Corri Hunsperger, co-host of Talk Truth, joins Leighton Grey to discuss why so many Canadians and Christian leaders remain silent as government surveillance, censorship, and restrictions on speech continue to expand. Corri shares his personal journey from growing up as a pastor’s son, walking away from Christianity, and ultimately rediscovering a genuine relationship with God. He also reveals how censorship during COVID-19 inspired him and his father, Alan, to create Talk Truth. Together, Leighton and Corri explore Canada’s Christian foundations, the dangers of political apathy, the failure of churches to confront difficult issues, and why honest conversation is essential to restoring freedom and unity. Most importantly, Corri challenges Christians to move beyond empty religion, live their faith courageously, and develop a relationship with God rooted in love rather than fear. In this episode: Why Corri walked away from Christianity How censorship gave birth to Talk Truth Why Canadians have become dangerously passive The growing threat to freedom of speech Why many churches avoid controversial issues Canada’s forgotten Christian foundations How Christians can speak truth with courage and grace The difference between knowing religion and knowing God Subscribe for more conversations examining the spiritual, cultural, and legal battles shaping Canada.

The casino is no longer confined to Las Vegas. It now fits inside a six-inch smartphone and follows us everywhere.
Online sports betting has exploded in popularity, particularly among boys and young men. Behind the promises of excitement and easy money lies a predatory industry linked to addiction, bankruptcy, depression, family violence, crime, and suicide.
In this episode, Leighton Grey examines the rapid expansion of online gambling and asks a deeper question: Is gambling merely risky entertainment, or does it violate the fundamental principles of Christian life?
Drawing on recent research and biblical teaching, he explores how gambling distorts our understanding of work, wealth, risk, contentment, and love for our neighbours. He also explains why parents, churches, schools, and policymakers must confront the growing influence of sports betting before another generation pays the price.
The house always wins—but what is society losing?

The political and cultural battles consuming the Western world may be symptoms of a much deeper conflict.
In this uncompromising conversation, Leighton Grey is joined by Father Calvin Robinson, a traditionalist priest, broadcaster and political commentator, to examine what he sees as the spiritual crisis behind the decline of Western civilization.
They discuss the erosion of Britain’s and Canada’s Christian identity, the rise of woke ideology, abortion and euthanasia, attacks on the family, threats to religious liberty, mass immigration, institutional failure and the growing pressure on Christians to remain silent. Father Robinson also explains why speaking the truth requires courage, why the Church must recover its historic faith and how Christian men and families can help renew a civilization that has lost its moral foundation.
The culture war is not merely political. As Father Robinson argues, it is part of a larger spiritual battle over truth, faith, family and the future of the West.

What happens when you reach the absolute summit of your lifelong dream, only to realize the treasure you were seeking wasn't there?
In this powerful episode of the Grey Matter Podcast, host Leighton Grey KC sits down with former NHL player and Bonnyville, Alberta native Brinson Pasichnuk. Brinson shares his incredible journey from a small-town kid playing alongside his brother Steen to scaling the "1% of 1%" heights of elite hockey at Arizona State University and the San Jose Sharks organization.
But behind the stats and pro contracts lies a profound story of deep personal struggle—navigating crippling childhood anxiety, family bankruptcy, and a debilitating battle with celiac disease at the peak of his pro career. Brinson opens up about the culture shock of a massive secular campus, the exact moment he surrendered his life to God on a kitchen floor, and how he brought a transformative faith movement right into the dressing room.
Now thriving as a mentor and elite junior hockey coach in his hometown, Brinson delivers a beautiful testament to resilience, spiritual identity, and discovering a calling far greater than the game itself.
